Let's go swimming

Bubs is preparing for the Beijing Olympics. He's 4 months now so should be ready for the 100m freestyle just in time!
Nah not really. But he certainly enjoys the classes and that's the main thing.
Babies are said to have a natural reaction where they simply close their mouth and hold their breath when they're dunked underwater. Sadly they lose this after a while (dunno why) and have to relearn it. Seems rather odd that we have this reflex so early in life but then lose it.
I learnt to swim very early myself as my Mum worked as a swim instructor so I spent a lot of time in or around the pool.
But is there a point where it's too young to take your baby swimming?

My daughter started taking swimming lessons when she was 6. She is now a very strong swimmer and has conquered her fear of water.

Yes I've heard of some swimming lessons where the main goal for babies is to be able to drop them in from the side and that they will swim to the surface. I'm not sure if ours is heading towards that but we do place them underwater for a second or so.
Our bub really loves it when Mummy and Daddy are in the bath too
